Abacaxeiro is the name of critically acclaimed guitarist Steinar Aadnekvam's second album, released in October 2011. A collaboration with some of the most profiled musicians from the culture-capital of northeastern Brazil; Recife - Pernambuco.

The album was followed by a 26 concerts tour throughout the Scandinavian countries in November '11 and the project is continously object for a widespread critical praise in Nordic, and European music press.
Germany's "Rocktimes Magazine" calls Abacaxeiro 'extraordinary' and continues with explaining it as "a pleasant and enriching experience of the new musical cosmos."

fRoots Magazine (UK) describes Abacaxeiro as "a quirky, spirited audio postcard from the Brazilian backlands"
Norway's daily newspaper 'Dagbladet' points out that Steinar Aadnekvam is indeed a "rare bird" among nordic guitarists, and that the Abacaxairo project "certainly doesn't make it less interesting to follow his work"

and, Germany's 'Jazzpodium' magazine holds forth that "Abacaxeiro manages to take music back to where it really belongs - in nature." (for a complete list of reviews, go here)

Abacaxeiro will once again visit Europe, in September 2012, to follow up the success of the 2011 tour and to meet with audience who have not yet had the opportunity to experience the joy and the playful quality of this music that is deeply rooted in the Afro-Brasilian musical heritage and styles of North-Eastern Brasil - a unique fusion between nordic jazz and the culture of Pernambuco.

In the Abacaxeiro project, we find noone less than the bassist Junior Areia, leader of the legendaric band Mundo Livre S/A and one of the forefigures in the important Brazilian ”Manguebeat” movement of the 1990’s. We also meet multireedist and 2010 Getxo Jazz winner Christian Brink. Steinar Aadnekvam has lately recieved a growing attention as one of the most interesting and talented young guitarists from the Nordics, and several reviewers have drawn paralells to the great guitar virtuosos of the 1970s.
Percussionists Carlos Amarelo and Bruno Vinezof together could be called “the beat of Recife” having collaborated with practically all of the important artists from the young, creative and explosive musicscene that has grown out of the state of Pernambuco during the last 20 years.

The Abacaxeiro October 2012 tour is a chance not to be missed. It is a must see, a must hear for all music enthusiasts interested in expanding their musical and cultural horizon.
